Visiting Sicily?
Ride with the locals.

Join one of our group rides, free of charge. We're a motorcycle group from Palermo and we ride the roads we know by heart: mountain passes, inland villages and coast roads you would hardly find on your own. All we ask in return is that you respect our rules.

  • Free
  • No membership
  • Any bike welcome

A ride you couldn't
organise on your own.

Renting a bike is easy. Knowing which road to take, where to stop and where to eat is another story: that's where we come in.

Free, for real

No fee, no membership, no commission. You only pay your own way: fuel, food and any tolls or ferries.

Off the beaten track

Routes planned by people who live here: the bends of the Madonie, hidden villages and panoramic roads far from the usual tourist trail.

Organised for you

Meeting point, departure time, route and GPX track, a briefing before we leave, a lead rider and a back marker. You just ride.

Sicily at the table

Our rides usually stop for lunch at a place chosen by locals: real Sicilian food, not tourist menus.

Four stops
to your first ride.

  1. Pick a ride

Check the upcoming rides: date, meeting point, departure time, route and lunch stop are all on the ride's card.

  2. Say hello

Message us on Instagram or join our WhatsApp group. Tell us which ride you'd like to join, which bike you'll ride and whether you're bringing a passenger.

  3. Read the rules

Two minutes for the short version below, a little more for the full rules. They're what keeps a group ride safe and fun.

  4. Show up and ride

Be at the meeting point 15 minutes before departure with a full tank. After the briefing, we're off.

The only thing we ask:
respect our rules.

A group ride works when everyone plays by the same rules. Here's the short version: the full rules are worth a read before your first ride.

Be on time, with a full tank

Arrive at the meeting point at least 15 minutes before departure, already refuelled: the group leaves on time.

Join the briefing

Before every ride there's a mandatory briefing: route, stops, lead rider and back marker. That's the moment to tell us if you have no satnav, a short range or need to leave early.

Nobody gets left behind

There's always a lead rider and a back marker. If you have a problem, someone stops with you and the group regroups somewhere safe.

Art. 10 · Art. 11

Your ride, your responsibility

You're responsible for your own speed, lines and overtaking. Italian traffic law always applies, and nobody has to copy the manoeuvre of the rider in front.

Art. 13

Keep your distance and your lane

No tailgating, no riding side by side, never across the centre line in bends, no passing on the inside in curves.

Ride at your own pace

Nobody has to ride faster than they're comfortable with: the pace has to suit the whole group.

Art. 22

No racing, no alcohol

No races, showing off or risky overtaking, and no riding under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medicines that affect your riding.

Tell us you're back

You can head off on your own at the end of the ride (just let us know), and when you've arrived, drop a message in the WhatsApp group.

Ready
to ride.

Nothing exotic: the same things you'd check before any ride, plus a satnav for roads you don't know yet.

  • A motorcycle in good order, registered and insured: your own or a rented one.
  • A valid licence for the bike you ride.
  • An approved helmet (compulsory in Italy) and proper gear: gloves, a jacket with protection, suitable trousers and boots.
  • A satnav or a phone with navigation: most rides come with a GPX track.
  • A full tank at the meeting point.

Good questions
before you go.

Is it really free?

Yes. The Bruumers is a group of friends, not a tour company: there's nothing to pay to ride with us. You only cover your own costs: fuel, food, and tolls or ferries when the route has them.

Do I have to become a member?

No. You can join a ride as a guest: just get in touch first and respect the rules. If you enjoy it, you're welcome back any time.

I don't have my bike in Sicily. Can I still come?

Of course: you can rent one, there are motorcycle rental shops in Palermo and in the main Sicilian cities. Make sure it's insured and that you're comfortable riding it, and tell us which bike you'll have.

Can I bring a passenger?

Yes, passengers ride with us all the time. Let us know when you get in touch.

What are the rides like?

Mostly day rides starting from Palermo, with a stop for lunch, and now and then longer trips. Every ride shows the route and the kilometres, so you can pick the one that suits you, and the pace is set for the whole group, not for the fastest.

Do you speak English?

Write to us in English: that's what this page is for. Just tell us which ride you have in mind.

What if the weather turns or plans change?

Changes and cancellations are announced in our WhatsApp group: check it the day before and on the morning of the ride.

What if something goes wrong on the road?

The back marker stops with you and the organisers coordinate the help you need. Keep in mind that we're not a tour operator: no insurance or roadside assistance is included, so check your own cover (and your rental's) before you ride.
